Wireless Information Server (WIS) - Technical Specifications
The main product characteristics are:
Platform and Database Independence
Our technology is developed in pure Java, which means that it can be deployed on almost any computer system. The system can operate on Windows NT, Windows 2000, Linux, or Solaris based system. It can work with any relational and JDBC compliant database, including Oracle 7, 8 and 9i, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Sybase, and others.
Modular Design
Our technology is built in modules so that it can be customized to suit individual client needs. The primary design and development goal was 'ease of use' and scalability. The solution can easily be private branded with an appropriate corporate logo, colour scheme and formatting. It runs over the IP protocol and conforms to existing message system standards.
Our product range consists of feature packs, each of which can be developed to suit client needs and easily incorporated into the existing base product. Some of the feature packs that can be developed are: SMS module, Paging Module, Text-to-Voice module, Text-to-fax module and similar.
The Wireless Information Server consists of four major components.
| Information Collection Engine is a module that collects electronic information from multiple sources and makes it available for further processing. The open standard architecture enables information to be collected from multiple sources, such as POP3 and IMAP4 e-mail servers, relational databases, stock quotes, or system events (system failures, database events, hack attempts). The base WIS system ships with the e-mail collection module capable of pulling information from POP3 or IMAP4 e-mail accounts. Additional collection modules are available. | |
| Delivery Engine is a full mail server module with many administrative options. | |
Routing Engine is a module that applies user defined rules to the
information received, and delivers it to appropriate devices in the
appropriate format. For example, information that needs to be delivered
to wireless devices (SMS or e-mail based) is cleared of all non-information
carrying components (pictures, attachments), and compressed so that
the user gets the most information on a space limited device.
Administration Engine is a powerful and flexible user interface
module that allows users to modify profiles and rules from any Internet
enabled computer in the world. It also has a full-featured web mail
as well as WAP mail component so that users can access up to five different
e-mail accounts (POP or IMAP) from any web or WAP enabled device.
